Basker Rangachari is Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing at Mashreq Bank. He joined Mashreq in August 2016. With almost 3 decades of diverse leadership experience across consumer banking, payments services, private equity, retail and consulting, Basker is responsible for driving the bank’s brand and marketing strategies, customer communications, analytics and digital marketing.
Prior to joining Mashreq, Basker worked for Zafin Labs Inc., where he was CEO Asia Pacific & Chief Transformation Officer. Over the past 29 years, he has gained experience in B2B and B2C multi-national corporations, including Standard Chartered Bank, MasterCard Worldwide and Ernst & Young. At Standard Chartered, Basker held senior consumer banking leadership roles over a 10-year career, rising up to his last role as their Global Head of Brand and Retail Marketing.
In his marketing roles, he delivered several first-to-market service guarantees, disruptive marketing campaigns, branch facade digitization strategy and pioneered the extensive use of digital & social marketing platforms. He has received several prestigious awards including Digital Marketer of the Year 2013; Marketer of the Year 2012; Fifty Most Talented CMOs in Asia Pacific 2013; and CRM Director of the Year 2010.
He is a regular keynote speaker at global conferences and university graduate programs, and has authored several articles on personal financial management.
Mr. Rangachari qualified in 1987 as a Certified Chartered Accountant from ACCA (UK) and was ranked as Gold medalist. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Technology Sydney, with a Masters in International Business and was ranked Top Graduate student.
